Wine Festival

Széchenyi tér · in May · in autumn the Bortér on Dóm tér

In May the winemakers move into the city centre. In autumn comes the Bortér, and everyone talks about the prices.

In the second half of May the Szeged Wine Festival takes over the city centre. The main venue is Széchenyi tér with two stages, but there's wine on Dóm tér, Dugonics tér, Klauzál tér, the Belvárosi Bridge and Oskola utca too.

One wine portal even called it the country's biggest wine festival.

In autumn the Bortér (“Wine Square”) comes to Dóm tér. In September 2024 the news site Telex checked the prices: a decilitre of wine cost about 800 forints on average (Irsai Olivér for 490 too), a grilled sausage 3500 and a chimney cake 1900 forints. The glass cost 1800 forints and you got 1200 back, but only at the info desk.

One visitor said: “For me it doesn't matter how expensive the Bortér is, I come out for the atmosphere.”
